Embodiment in Neuro-Engineering
The philosophical implications of neuro-technological developments are of great consequence for fundamental research, clinical practice and first and foremost, the individual patient’s experience. Receiving a neuro-implant requires a siginificant existential reorientation, which we need to study.
In my philosophical work I draw from theoretical frameworks like that of embodied phenomenology by Merleau-Ponty, and try to apply this to the clinical context. Starting with my MSc-thesis in Philosophy on this subject, which has been awarded with several prizes (see below), I aim to continue to broaden this work in an academic context.
